A cluttered desk
They say a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind. Most people don’t even own a proper desk. My Austrian friend works standing up behind an ironing board and somehow thinks that’s a good idea, how crazy is that! These days people want it all… except for a proper desk to clutter.
If I’m honest, my desk - which I managed to squeeze between my living room and bathroom, where light does not penetrate - is barely cluttered at all. Beyond my office essentials, mouse and click-clack mechanical keyboard prized possessions, there are very few objects. Some cups and dried flowers. A passport, my nephew’s art and some receipts. That’s really it, except for my nail clipper, which I need for when stress drives me to bite my nails. No clutter here, sir!
That might explain why I’ve been working so much as of late. Out of sight, my living room; yet-to-unpack suitcases and dirty dishes days in the making.
